There are times when I question why praying in the more Western sense even is needed. God should know what you want and what you need. So, why do we get on our knees asking him to deliver us to what we need or want? Honestly, itβs more important to keep the faith that heβs watching over us and will help guide us to what we need and what we want.
I guess my beliefs align with that of Muslims and Middle Eastern Christians. American Christianity is apostate.

I thought Muslims prayed to Mecca. I think because it gives you a little feeling of satisfaction. Iβve prayed before but I usually pray for the knowledge to get what Iβm looking for. God isnβt Santa Claus..

I know. I thought Muslims were supposed to pray towards it Are you referring to the kaaba π? Muslims still worships Allah (God) and have great respect for his prophets, Muhammad and Jesus (PBUT). They don't subscribe to the belief that Jesus was a 'son of God' or 'an avatar of God,' but a really influential prophet of God. This is why I mentioned that my beliefs tend to align with them.

Iβm not Muslim or Christian so I donβt know a whole lot about it. What beliefs do you align with most can you explain? π€π€

What beliefs do you align with most can you explain? π€π€ One of them has already been mentioned in this thread. I sort of agree with how they depict Jesus. I was never one who subscribed to the notion that he was the 'son of God,' for reasons laid out in a joke by atheist comedian Jimmy Kar. I also don't subscribe to the notion that Jesus was God in an earthly form. Given the numerous prophets, or chosen ones, depicted in the Old Testament, why should the central figure of the New Testament be elevated to that of divinity? Why couldn't Jesus have been someone sent by God to fulfill a message and a purpose? Islam greatly respects their own prophet (peace be upon him) and Jesus as well (peace be upon him). The Quran talks about Jesus as much as it does The Prophet. I've also started to understand why Muslims pray differently from Western Christians. How many times have we fallen to our knees to essentially plead with God for what we need or what we want? Doesn't this seem a tad redundant? God is an omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient (I might as well include omnisexual too) entity. He knows already what it is we need and what it is we want. So, the focus on non-verbal communication with God, is something that I find myself in alignment with Muslims on. God cares more about our actions rather than our words.

I think the story of Jesus is meant to be an example of what true selflessness looks like. Being sent to deliver a message that you will die horribly for and have god abandon you on the cross. That he came to make a difference and got nothing in return but knew this and did it anyway.

That he came to make a difference and got nothing in return but knew this and did it anyway. I fail to see how God abandoned him on the cross. God never abandons people who hold him in their hearts. God doesnβt control the actions of people nor does he make the path we walk on. This is because he gave us free will. So, I never quite understand what people say when they bring up that Jesus was abandoned.
