During the days of the 1980's, those who claimed that the government was withholding secrets of the existence for alien life would've been seen as quack pots or conspiracy theorists. Nowadays, that hasn't much changed, but now the government itself seems to have agreed with them. The accounts of David Grusch may have caused many to suspect that their suspicions of Area 51 by Groom Lake in Nevada actually holds paranormal or extraterrestrial secrets.
Given the time frame for this information, it would appear that the U.S. government may have intentionally set this up as a means to distract the public from problems concerning the nation such as high prices for food and other basic necessities as well as growing rates of facism.
